REACH OUT

Volunteer With Us!

Volunteers are fundamental to the success of Ballyntyne Learning Farm! We happily welcome volunteers to help teach a learning session, assist with projects alongside the kiddos or to help with the maintenance and beautification of the farm. Please find a brief explanation of the potential roles below!

Typical Farm Projects
  • Farm beautification (planting bushes, tree, and flowers around the pond)

  • Garden maintenance (weeding, planting, building planter boxes, churning compost)

  • Animal care (laying down fresh hay, feeding and grooming, milking animals, fence repair, shelter repair, stall mucking)

  • Barn upkeep (repainting, cleaning, decorating, and repairing)

Typical Learning Sessions
  • Assist day-campers with projects (arts & crafts, nature hikes, science experiments, building projects)

  • Or, if you are passionate or have a background in the following areas (weather, water, soil, bugs, gardening, birds, farm animal, wild animals, trees, pollution, recycling) we would love to have your help leading a learning session. We always enjoy hearing from local community members!

What to bring

On the day of your shift that you are scheduled to help at, please make sure to bring along your great attitude! We aim to provide students and groups with a fun, relaxing and memorable day and as a volunteer, we rely on your energy to accomplish that goal.

Please dress in layers and bring shoes that can get dirty. We will provide an apron for you to wear during the project times as well as gardening gloves when we are in the garden. Please bring a snack and water. We rely on the help of volunteers to best provide for the students and we ask that you remain with the group until the learning session has ended.
